The Yale Tango Orchestra

The Yale Tango Orchestra was formed in the fall of 2006 after a series of DJing and music appreciation classes organized by Tine Herreman at the Yale Tango Club.
We believe that live tango performances for dancing in recent years have been overly influenced by Piazzolla, which has resulted in music that is not very suitable for social dancing.  We feel that it is important that musicians approach the music they perform from a dancer's perspective. The members of the YTO are all milongueros and our main goal is to provide music that is well suited for dancing at clubs and milongas in a style that is somewhat similar to that of the tango orchestras of the "golden age" of tango, while at the same time adding a flavor of our own.
